Transform old Christmas garland into a simple but beautiful wreath for your home or garden.
After going through a long lost bin of Christmas decorations, I came across old garland from years ago. The plastic had dried up and the garland was breaking apart. Instead of throwing that out, I decided to reuse the holly and the leaves to add to a plain Christmas garland to create a wreath for our chicken coop.
I have been excited to decorate our chicken coop and run for the holidays, and since tis’ the season, I had to come up with some fun projects and crafts to style their little home & this is one of them.
So here I’m sharing with you an easy way to repurpose old decorations into something new and improved.
Material list
- Christmas garland
- Holly berries and leaves from old decorations
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Wire frame & floral wire (optional) – see paragraph below
This project is so simple to make because it only takes a few materials to make it. I used a Christmas garland that had support built into it. The garland is made around a wire center, so this allowed me to form the round shape without the use of a wire frame or floral wire. Hence why I say this project can be made with 3 materials.
Easy steps to transform old Christmas decor into a wreath
If your garland is soft and doesn’t have support, you will need to get a wire frame and attach the garland to it with floral wire. Also, you could use pipe cleaners if you have some of those laying around.
Once you have your wreath base glue the berries and leaves all around the wreath. I chose a random pattern with some symmetry but mostly random. Have fun decorating it however it looks best to you.
Lastly, hang and enjoy. It is so easy to transform old Christmas garland into fresh decorations for your home or garden.
